Peggy's Story

Living out in the country now and loving it! I'm on face book and have a yahoo address with my name and graduation year in the address. I'm the proud owner of a young horse and am enjoying training her with a trainer. I was born in Mobile, Alabama, lived there until I finished 1st grade, then we moved to Marietta, Georgia. In Marietta I attended LaBelle Heights Elementary School for the 2nd, 3rd & 4th grades. Then my family moved back to Mobile and I lived there until I was 29. Although, We moved back to Mobile, each summer I would come back to Marietta and stay with our friend's/neighbor's family, Larry & Tracey Roberts'family! I kept up with some of my old friends and classmates through Larry & Tracey each summer. During the fall; Oct.1973,of my senior year I visited Larry & Tracey and went out on a blind date with a friend of Larry's; Bill Sayne. We went to a Foghat & J. Giles Band concert at the Omni Center... great fun! There was about 8 of us all together. Kathy Hales was my closest friend. And I continued to see her as well. Although I graduated in Mobile at Murphy High School, I connected with R L Osborne High School and LaBelle Heights Elementary in Marietta to possibly keep in touch with ole classmates! I attended Mary B. Austin for 1st grade and had Mrs. Siler as my teacher. Loved that school and the friends that I met there. 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grades, as I mentioned, were in Marietta, Ga. Great neighborhood with "the woods, and the creek" where all the friends in the neighborhood played. Buddy Jacobs, Wendy, Susan & Bubba Hutson, Larry & Tracey Roberts, myself and my younger brother Ray Coughlin spent many fun-filled good ole fashion playtime hours together. Buddy even built a raft for us to float down the creek on one summer. We were free to roam the woods and play in the creek without danger. We had a blast as kids in the 60's did back then. Our family had an inground pool, so we had friends over all the time. When I was in the 4th grade, I got to play softball for the first time on a team; we were the "Smyrna Jonquils" and we came in 3rd place for the season. We moved back to Mobile, Ala. before the season's last couple of games were played, so I didn't receive the radio that each player won. Bummer. As a child, I always wanted a trophy... Oh well. For 5th & 6th grades I attended Augusta Evans, where I met some wonderful and life-long friends. B...Expand for more
etween church, ballet & modern jazz classes, horseback riding and movies, I had a wonderful social life. I lost my dad in Vietnam while I was in the 6th grade, and that was a hard thing to go through at such a young age. My Mom was always my rock. She led me to Jesus, and He's my rock. Good thing, because she's gone home to heaven herself. And what would I have done without either of them? I am so blessed to have had my Mother. Ok, now on to the 7th & 8th grades. I attended Sidney C. Phillips Jr. High School and wasn't really crazy about the teachers and some of the weird kids. The lessons were hard and some of the teachers acted like it was their job and not their passion. I enjoyed getting back together with some friends from Mary B. Austin, and meeting new friends. At the end of my 8th grade year I met a cute, kind of shy guy who had a motorcycle and he became my boyfriend for about 2 yrs. off and on. 9th grade was spent at W.P.Davidson. I had always wanted to attend Murphy, so I was mad and disappointed that I had to go to Davidson. However, I did meet many great friends there and was rushed and received a bid to a sorority that I wanted. DBS. Great summer followed. 10th, 11th & 12th grades were at Murphy! Where I always wanted to be~! I absolutely loved Murphy High School.. It was all I had hoped it would be even though there was a lot of racial tension. I met new friends and reconnected with old ones. I was in heaven. Joined some school clubs and was active in DBS. Had the time of my life in high school~! Even though I wasn't a wild child, I got pregnant and married while in my senior year, switched over to night school and graduated from Murphy. Divorced 10 years later. Married a wonderful man and have been married 24 years. We have 5 children: 2 each and one together. Have some grandchildren that we are crazy about! God has been good to me. He's my best friend. Contact me and share your story if you'd like. God Bless~! Peggy If I won $100 million, First, after paying all the taxes on it, I'd tithe 10% to churches that God would tell me to. Then I'd give a lot of it to my Husband, and then to Struggeling Christians, then spend some on horses, and redoing our barn, building a car garage for my husband for antique cars, a little of it to our children and save some for our retirement. What would you do with $100 million dollars? Take care! Love, Peggy
