Peggy's Story
On January 10 1969 I married for the first time to a guy from Alabama. His mother died when he was young and he was raised in Vidalia Georgia on Paul Andersons Boys Camp. He had three sisters, one of which ended up in the Millegeville mental hospital from abuse from a caregiver and was released to her
father at the age of 16. She married
Christopher Travis Walker who attended
West Fulton High School and later went
to Vietnam. Chris was not all there when he returned and his wife had problems also. They had 2 children, Travis and Johnny and lost custody of both of them. Travis was born Jan 1, 1968 and Johnny Jan 17, 1969. I eventually got custody of both the boys, their mother got sent to prison for being the get a way driver in an...Expand for more
armed robbery. Chris, which was already devastated from Vietnam committed suicide in 1970. This was a big shock. The rages guys that served in Nam felt caused a lot of family problems I am sure. I too morn the loss of Chris and others that I knew that went to Vietnam. I put Travis and Johnny up for adoption in 1974 after trying to raise three kids by then as a single Mom. I still miss them both and my son Jonathan Travis was named after them. They are out there somwhere and They were to young (4 and 5) when I last saw them. They are now 41 and almost 40 years old. I know that they knew how much I loved them and one day I may see them again. Surprises do happen.
To anyone that had a brother or son
that served in any war, Semper Fi.
