Peggy's Story
Life
Many twists and turns have brought me to practicing law out of a restored mill village house in north Baltimore City...national practice representing retailers and developers in shopping center and mixed use development. Making the world safe for capitalism one 5.0/1,000 parking lot at a time. At one point, I was probably the only UVA grad in school history to be operating a law practice out of a Chinese herb shop (on the Mexican border, no less)...but then, you never know. More than 30 years have passed since graduation, and I have lived/practiced law in Northern California, St. Louis MO, Northern California again, Manhattan KS, Sierra Vista AZ, Central California, and now Baltimore MD.
Update: 2 of my 4 children have pledged the nest. I decided to set roots here in Baltimore so that all 4 kids can graduate from high school in the same city -- since my youngest is 7 years old, that's a 10 year commitment! Already I have lived in Baltimore (9 years) longer than anywhere I've lived since high school.
Update: Been awhile since I checked this site out. My youngest is now 20 years old and stu...Expand for more
dying chem at the U of Maryland (College Park) -- the empty nest! The other three kids are gainfully employed and (mostly) self sufficient. I have moved twice more, but still nearish to Baltimore. I now live by myself on 5 acres out in the country, about as far from civilization as you can get in a metropolitan area (8 miles to the nearest grocery store BUT about 8 grocery stores that distance away), but I'm not a hermit. I am part of three communities that are near to my heart -- (historic) Emory Grove in Glyndon MD (where I have a cottage); (historic) St. John's Western Run Episcopal Church in Butler MD and (historic) 14 West Hamilton Street Club in Baltimore City. Although I've been through a few tragedies that land on us all as we get older (the worst being the most recent & which I am still processing), I keep pushing ahead and life is good. I am still a shopping center attorney and still loving it -- even treasuring it -- but I expect the next time I update this (in another 10 years?) I will probably be retired and who knows what else? Peggy of the future, je te defie/te rato/ti sfido/challenge ego.
