Penny's Story
I'm a retired geologist and technical writer/editor. In 2008 I published a memoir of a hike across the Grand Canyon in June 1958, and it is selling well in Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. Two of my cohorts in the story are Muriel Byars Bergman and Pat Pabrazinsky Fowler, both 1958 graduates from Fullerton Union High School (FUHS). The booklet (all 32 pages) is available directly from me, from selected book stores, through Kindle, or by mail from Amazon.com. I've been married to a 1956 FUHS graduate, Don Scholten, for nearly 59 years, and we've lived in several places throughout the length of California and Arizona as well as Nevada, Utah, and Oklahoma. We have two daughters, no pets (unless you count our cement dog who has been with us guarding our front porches for about 37 years), and enjoy hiking the Grand Canyon among other beautiful places. I hiked the canyon on my 70th birthday in 2010, on my 77th birthday in 2017, and plan to do it one more time on my 80th. Wish me luck.
