Peter's Story
Life
After leaving NS I worked in Turkey for four years, then spent the next 11 months sailing with two friends in a 36' ketch from Greece to the US Virgin Islands. I ultimately arrived in Ontario where I joined Toronto Dominion Bank. There I worked at several locations around Lake Huron (all the way from Sarnia to Sault Ste Marie and back) before moving to Toronto then eventually New York with TD Bank. In NY I got married and spent several more years in International Banking with TD, then Bank of California, ending up as SVP and General Manager of their entire New York operations. I then moved into international banking software company then got involved in consulting and finally moved into the database consulting arena, before retiring a few years ago. countries and counting, and have worked for extended periods in Mexico, England, and Hungary, as well as my stint in Turkey. In August 2012 we moved from New Jersey to Texas where we are enjoying the warmer winters and lower taxes.
Adult kids moved in with us for COVID (fortunately we had the room) - Daughter, Deirdre, has since gone back to Boston where she is director for government policy and pricing strategy for a major bio-pharma, while our son, Douglas, a director in Global Financial Strategy with CitiGroup, remotely manages a multi-billion-dollar portfolio. He has decided that he can perform his job from Texas and has no desire to return to NYC in the immediate future, if ever, I am a certified Texas Master Naturalist and spend several hours a week volunteering at the Katy Prairie Conservancy 😊
