Philip's Story
My father was was in the Air Force stationed at Dyess AFB, Incirlik Turkey, Rome AFB I lived in Abilene from 65-69. We moved on to Newport, RI and then to Turkey for two years. Graduated from high school in Rome, NY with full intentions of going to U of Wisconsin where I planned to study journalism. Got a wild hare up my backside and joined the Air Force instead. Traveled the world for the next 20 years. Spent 10 of the 20 in Biloxi, Ms where I flew on C-130's. Prior to that I worked on the NATO AWACS (plane with the rotating dome on top) program in Germany.
I retired in 1974 and went back to to complete another degree at University of Southern Mississippi.
I continue to live in Biloxi where I have worked in various management positions with the Emergency Medical Services.
I am on my second and most successful marriage (18 years) and have 4 kids (hers, mine, ours) ranging in age from 16 to 31. We have 4 grandkids (hers, mine, ours and theirs) with a fifth due in early February.
At the age of 50, I decided to have a mid-life crisis. Since I cou...Expand for more
ldn¿t afford nor desired a new sports car I decided to finish up a few "incompletes" in my life. One was to return to Europe...this time with my wife and youngest son. Spent 7 weeks in Europe all on ¿frequent¿ flyer miles from Delta Airlines and Marriott Hotels.
When we returned we had the misfortune of living and working through Hurricane Katrina. We fared well but the community was a devastating loss.
Another "incomplete" was to visit the last 2 states that I had missed in my previous travels. Also, made a point to visit all those places I had lived. Completed that in the summer of 07.
I also wanted to reconnect with the more "memorable" of those whom I have met in my journeys. You are the latest. I have also returned to my passion for photography. Paid jobs help support the addiction. I have started building a website but mostly display on myspace/graphotix.
Well, brief as it is, there is a synopsis of my life. I hope I may have triggered some recollections of those good old days and have a moment to catch me on how you are doing.
