Phillip's Story

Life I would say my life started in 1985, when I fell in love with my wife, We married in 1986 and three years later we had our first son (Mason).I really loved being a new father and in 1992 we had our second son (Dixon). He had health problems when he was born and it made me "re-examine" my long term goals. I went back to school and received my Electrical Engineering degree in 1999. That year we also had a Beautiful baby girl (Georgia). I recently started to practice my hobbies again, which I stoped doing when I started collage. I like to paint, sketch, woodworking and generally playing in the wonderful San Diego sun. School I would say I pretty much just survived highschool. All I wanted to do was to grow up and make my own rules, little did I know is that there are plenty of rules to follow as an adult. I do remember several close friends that I wish I had kept in contact with after school. College During collage I was always pretty busy...slipping into class just before it started...and leaving right away to go pick up my kids from thier school. I remember having some really good friends though and we all worked together to make it through those tough engineering courses. When I talk to people about when I went back to collage, I tell them that I wouldn't do it again. It was a huge stress on my marriage as well as a financial sacrifice that I am still paying back. I don't mean to complain, it was a decision that I made I'm just saying that knowing what I know now...I think would ge...Expand for more
t a votech degree and get on with it...life that is. Workplace All four years in high school all I wanted to do was graduate and work full time as an Automotive Machinist and build the best damn motors in Southern California. I thought that I was really getting a head start on my peers who where still sitting in classes while I left campus after first period and went to work during my senior year of high school. I should have stayed on campus and took more classes because what I failed to realize was that I wasn't actually just competing for a job with my peers but also with men who were forty and fifty years old. There was no way that I was going to have as much experience as they had. As luck would have it I had a talent and love for automotive machining. A problem arouse when I was twenty-four and I had a second child. My salary wasn't going to go much higher for the next 30 years and how was I going to provide for my family? So what was a man to do? I went to the guidance counselor at Cuyamaca Jr. Collage, she directed me to the BIG book of careers. I thought about it for a minute or two and decided that I would go to collage and get my Electronics Engineering Degree, if you have read my other bios this wasn’t as simple as…say …it would have been fresh out of high school. Well, I went to school full time, worked 3/4 time and took care of the kids 100% of the time. I've been customer service, automotive parts sales clerk, network administrator, DOT-COM entrepreneur, Engineer and Manager.
