Phyllis's Story
Life
Looking to get in touch with other 1958 classmates of Santa Rosa High School. I am now71 as are most of you. I retired at the age of 63 and worked part time for friends. I went back to work full time as a legal secretary in mid-July (at 66) as I needed more money. I got laid off from that job in 2/09 and have been mystery shopping and typing for friends since then. Still need more Money to make ends meet.
I dance ballroom (most kinds) and round dancing (a variation of ballroom which is cued out loud), one or the other, usually 3-5 nights a week for a couple of hours.
Would like to be on more of your email contacts. Currently please email me if you can. Have two daughters, 2 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 1 step great grandson, and 2 great grandsons, all of whom live in California.
I live in Las Vegas, NV and really like it in spite of the heat in the summer. I am glad we had the 50th reunion and I enjoyed it, but if there is another one and dancing is involved,it needs...Expand for more
to be on a real floor, not concrete outside.
School
went to SRJC and graduated in 1960
Least favorite teacher was short hand teacher, Ms. Lynch, good teacher as it was my favorite subject at the time, but horrible dictator (a-fore-a) before every sentence
Most favorite teachers Mr. Guyon and Mr.Smyth
Least favorite subject English
Marriage twice, divorced twice, lived in Santa Rosa, Ukiah, LA area 20+ years, and Las Vegas since 1981.
Workplace
Worked at many many jobs. No real career as all the jobs seemed to "disappear". Most enjoyable remembered job was as Temporary Secretary for Manpower in Las Vegas all over town in many different capacities from file clerk to Admin Asst. Least enjoyable remembered job was in LA as a file clerk. also worked as legal secretary in LA and in Vegas but ended up with medical transcription as it was more interesting to me and not as stressful with time deadlines. Currently working part time as mystery shopper and as USDA reviewer for SNAP..
