Rudy "Cal"'s Story
I grew up in a small place called Townview on Live Oak Avenue and I remember watching a lot of Bob Shreve late nights on the weekends. It was a place where kids felt safe being out and around any time. I spent a lot of time riding my bike everywhere. A dozen or so people stand out in my mind and occasionally a memory of someone will come to mind.
I only attended Trotwood Madison in the 9th grade. I remember a horrible time trying out for football and realizing that it wasn't my game. Ha! My favorite times were spent outside with my friends in the playground. I recall we used to have a lot of fun having horseback fights. That and working in the Biology Lab for Mr. Bashore.
I was saddened to leave some friends behind, but I was looking forward to making new friends. We moved to Fairborn on Keeler Street, in the Huber Mobile Home & RV Park. And I attended Fairborn Baker for half a Sophomore year before moving back to Dayton. I had a good time in Cross Country and working in the Biology Lab for Mr. Koenig.

tling and photography and I only remember a handful of teachers that stood out in my mind for various reasons: Ms. Herpst, Mr. Gross, Mr. Cox, and Mr. Mumma.
After High School, I had a miserable attempt at college in Wright State (although I had a fun time) but left it to go into the Air Force. I spent most of the time in the tundra of K.I. Sawyer in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
When I got out, I was ready for college and work. I graduated from Sinclair and Central State. I worked at Dayco for 18 years. We lived in Xenia at that time, on Montana Drive.
I was at ABX Air (Airborne Express) for 13 years as a Computer Programmer. I'm now looking for employment, due to the downsizing of DHL and ABX.
I married Elizabeth in 1976 and I am a father with 2 girls. We have 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson. We built a place in the country, in Jamestown. I wouldn't want to live any place else.
I am really looking forward to the adventure ahead that life will bring.
And I look back to the past, remembering those whose paths I crossed. And I hope that the passing was as pleasant for others as it was for me.
