Ralph's Story
Life
Attended Spring Arbor College 1973-Dec,1975. Moved to Phoenix, Arizona, lived with mom's twin, attended Arizona State University to complete Bachelor of Music in secondary choral education. Managed a 7-11 store for 3 years while attending school. Met Karen Elaine Severance at Tempe Church of the Nazarene in 1976. We were married at that church on June 16, 1979. Began working for Motorola in 1981 and became Music Director, A/V Director, and Worship Leader for Tempe Church of the Nazarene. Joel Andrew Messner was born to us in 1983. Joshua Paul Messner was born in 1988. In 1988, began a full-time career at Motorola as a Desktop Support Analyst, Sr. (Macintosh, MS-DOS, Windows, UNIX). Moved into Software Analyst position in 1998 and in 2001 became titled as IT Client Systems Analyst II for Global Informatio...Expand for more
n Systems. In 2003, Motorola sold its Information Technology to Computer Sciences Corporation (now just CSC).
In 1992, when my career at Motorola began requiring much of my time, I convinced the church to hire someone full-time as Minister of Music. I retained the ministries of Worship Leader and Technical Coordinator and added the responsibility of WebMaster. Now, in 2008, I am still working for CSC, doing web authoring and upkeep, singing with the church praise team with occasional stints as a bass player, and am head technologist for them.
Joel married in 2006 to a lovely young lady named Robyn, God's gift to him. Joshua is at home attending college while working towards a game design degree. The blond long ago turned to brown and for the last 10 years is slowly graying. But I've still got a head of hair.
