Ramie's Story
Well, it has been 35 years since I graduated from West Mecklenburg! How does one summarize that many years? To make a long story short, I met my husband, who is from New York when I was 25 and we both graduated with our bachelor's degrees from UNCG. I became an elementary school teacher and taught in Greensboro, N.C. for 8 years before we decided to move to New Haven, CT so that my husband could get his graduate degree from Yale University in Spanish Literature. here as well. I started teaching 5th grade at Spring Glen Elementary School in Hamden, CT and have been there for the last 12 years. I love being a teacher, especially since I don't have any kids of my own. I have gotten used to the snowy winters here in New England and love living close to the Long Island Sound. We enjoy living so close to New York City as well, and go there often for fun and entertainment. Although I have learned to love life here in the northeast, I still miss southern food and sweet ice tea! You can take the girl out of the south, but you can't take the south out of the girl!
