Ramona's Story

Life I am doing very well. I have been blessed with two children, one of whom who unfortunately passed away. My greatest achievement in life is being a Mom first before anything. My son Brandon will be 15 this year and is my basketball superstar. My daughter Grace passed away November 1998. She is my shining star up in the heavens and my angel looking down on me. Now on to my bio - I was a LAN (local area network for those of you who don't know)Administrator working at various IBM plants in NY(Endicott, Sterling Forest, Poughkeepsie, & Fishkill). Please contact me if you would like to chat. I would like to hear how other classmates are doing. WOW - it's been 5 years since I've updated my bio. My son is now turning 20 and graduating from college. He will go to NY and work for the summer, continue school here in Arkansas then transfer most likely to a school in NY. And I couldn't have asked for a better son. He's my strength and inspiration. I have some good news to share...I am getting married. Yes, I am going to finally settle down - lol. We don't have a date yet because I can't decide where to get married at. (NY or AR) Heck, we might just have to have two weddings! I know I sure do miss NY and can't wait for a chance to visit former classmates at our 25th reunion. I wasn't able to make the last reunion (sorry...was on a family reunion cruise) therefore I'm looking forward to this one. Well it's been a while since I updated my bio. Today is 09/06/09 & yes, Ricky & I did get married. But sadly just 3 months ago - 06/06 my dear Ricky passed away after a one year struggle with brain cancer. It has been a very painful journey, for the both of us. Even though Ricky suffered from so much pain he did not complain once. He will always be my hero. The Lord gave me the strength to take care of Ricky in ways I never thought I could, up until his very last breath. I get through each day because I know that my Ricky is in a beautiful place with our Lord with no more pain & suffering, where he can sing & play his piano...Expand for more
again along with all the other angels. I'm sure that is some beautiful music being played up there. It would be my greatest honor to share his music with anyone who'd like a CD. He was one heck of a songwriter and I'm proud to say that I was the inspiration to a lot of his songs. A little bit about my son Brandon. He graduated with a degree from our local college in Hope, AR and now is a senior at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR majoring in Physical Education & Science. He lives with the quarterback of the Arkansas Razorbacks so lets just say he's having the time of his life! I sure do miss him, especially now but I know he had to grow up & leave sometime. The Razorbacks lost their biggest fan when Ricky died so I'm sure Ricky is grinning from ear to ear knowing not only is Brandon friends with their quarterback but that Brandon is following in the career that he had which was a coach & teacher. OKAY - one more update - The week of Christmas 2009 on a Sunday I received a very important phone call. It seems 12 1/2 years ago I signed up with the National Bone Marrow Program & they were calling to tell me I was a possible match. After many, many test and going to Baylor for the final exam & testing I was found to be a perfect 10 out of 10 match for a young 43 year old man with AML Leukemia. So on Feb. 26, 2010 I had bone marrow surgery and by 4 PM that same day the recipient received my marrow. Here I was giving life to someone I had never met but little did he know that he was the one who was saving me. I had fallen into a deep depression after losing my dear Ricky & my son living so far away at school - I never felt so alone before. I now feel like living life again so watch out world here I come!! Whenever I feel like I'm starting to get sad I just remember what Ricky always said, "Don't be sad when I pass on honey as I'm getting the highest promotion I could ever ask for." I didn't grasp those words at first but I sure do now. I'm truly ready to start my new journey / chapter in my life. Wish me well...thanks!
