Ramonda's Story

These questions don't define who we were or who we've become over the last 15 years or so. I remember some of you as if it were yesterday. Yet, I find myself struggling to remember who I was at that time to answer these ridiculous questions. If you remember me, you will remember that my personal goal in life was to play cards during English, cheat on tests (when they could be stolen from the office) and to constantly get kicked out of English class for aggravating Mr. Grace. (Grimmace as some of us called him - remember his purple sweat suit?) This is not who I am today. Now, I find myself trying to explain to my four children (2 of them were inherited with my husband) why you can't tell the teacher to f*** off just because you don't like them. Sound familiar? Whoever said that whatever you do to your parents comes back on you ten fold new exactly what they were talking about. Boy, am I being paid back. I bounced from home to home and from school to school growing up. Going in and out of foster homes wasn't what I would have called a great experience in my life but, I must say that a special group of people that I met at Almont High School definately made an impact on my life. You know, the kind of impact that reminds you of someone when you hear a particular song or when you smell a fragrance in the air that takes you back to the exact second in time of a first kiss and forces you to feel those emotions all over again. Or, when you see a color that reminds you of your best friends eyes and you wish that the phone would ring with that voice from the past on the other end. For such a small town, it sure did leave a lasting impression in my life. Many, many memories linger in my mind. The talent show.......what were we thinking? ha!ha! Ray's house burning down in the middle of the night. The cops always catching us drinking at the park. Parties at Nancy's house. The blowout in Stacy's car. The song lyrics with Angie D. ( I still remember every single word to that song.) Going to prom with Dan and Jonell. Etc., Etc., Etc. Too many memories to write down. These are the types of things that stay in your heart causing you to crack a smile whenever you remember them. If you were a part of my memories, I'd like to thank you. If you weren't, I'd like to apologize by saying that I'm sorry that you missed out on some great times. Just in case you were wondering, I have moved to Southeast Louisiana (about an hour west of New Orleans). I have only seen snow once since I've been here. I moved here in September of 1993. As I said earlier, I have 4 children (3 boys and 1 girl). Two of them came with my h...Expand for more
usband of 13 years. Wow, I never realized how long 13 years was until I just typed it. Anyway, I am very involved with my children. I constantly volunteer at the local high school. I, extremely, love to help out with the high school's NJROTC Program. My step-daughter, who is graduating this year, is a state Representative for the French Club for Louisiana and is the Commanding Officer of the NJROTC Program. (She's the highest ranking student in her class.) My step-son has just begun the program this year and loves it. My 13 year old son loves to play music. He plays the saxophone and guitar. The saxophone is great!!!! Very Loud!!!! We just bought him an electric guitar for his birthday (Valentine's Day). My 10 year old son plays football. He's definately built for it. He has my football shoulders. He is built solid. I think that once he realizes how big and solid he is, he'll be un-stopable. My husband.............well, he's one of a kind. He works hard and plays just as hard. His hobbies consist of riding his Hyabusa, cruising on his Harley, hunting, fishing, frogging, etc. He also hunts and traps Nutria and Alligators. Yes, I said alligators. You didn't really think that I was going to marry a normal person did you? He's great. Somedays I want to kill him. Other days, I want to kill him.......ha ha. But, I wouldn't trade him for anything. Don't tell him that. Me, I'm still just me. I'm still very outspoken. I still love to play pool. I still love to dance and blast my music as loud as I can. I still love to party (somewhat). My hobbies are my family. I spend every moment that I can with my children. I love being able to be a part of their memories and being able to experience new adventures, as we call them, with them instead of hearing about them. I don't smoke anymore. I quit about 7 years ago. I haven't messed around with any types of drugs since I left Michigan. I guess I realized that I needed to grow up. Hell, I don't even drink that often anymore. It's amazing what you give up when you start having kids. I have really settled down over the past 15+ years. People refer to me as an overgrown teenager because I still love to have fun. I just have legal fun now. Well, don't hesitate to email me unless you have negative things to say. I would like to know how you all are doing. Especially, those of you who were very close to my heart (Jonell, Ray, Angie Delawder, etc.) At least write to me to let me know that you are still alive. My daughter set me up a my space page if anyone is interested. I guess you just look up my married name - Ramonda Griffin. Have a nice day!
