Randolph's Story
Life
In 1997, I married a beautiful girl, Heather Lynn Davis, a Greene County (about 23 miles north of Charlottesville) native. A year later, we bought an acre of land in the county, built a house on it and began boarding two Siberian huskies, four assorted breed stray cats, and sundry tropical fish. She now works with me at LexisNexis as an editor, but her aim is to someday teach young children.
College
After First Colonial, I worked toward a degree in industrial engineering at Ferrum College (where I was known as the Hobbit, don't ask) in southwestern Virginia for two years. Midstream, I changed my mind and decided to get out and work for awhile. In 1991, I decided to make a second attempt and went for, and attained, a journalism degree at Virginia Commonwealth Universi...Expand for more
ty.
I obtained an MBA from Averett University Spring of 2010.
Workplace
After graduating from VCU, I worked one year as a reporter/photographer/copy editor at the Waynesboro News-Virginian. From there, I began a 15-year career as a composition analyst for LexisNexis, a legal publisher in Charlottesville. My work consisted of mainly creating computer-generated behind-the-scenes page, paragraph, heading templates to ensure proper print output of legal data. It's been a very weird experience for a liberal arts major!
In February 2011, I was hired as an XML specialist for Silverchair Science + Communications in Charlottesville.
In November 2012, I was hired by CFA Institute in Charlottesville as a publishing technology specialist, primarily for my XSLT development skills.
