Randolph's Story
I am encouraging you to write a bit about your memories of life in Ocean Falls.
To that end, I want to say how much of a blessing to have had 10 very formative years in the Falls. It has been a lasting experience in so many ways. Often think back to those years. I have said there is no other place that I would have wanted to be in those years at Ocean Falls.
It has been over 50 years since being there. My wife Kathy, children, and grandchildren have been regaled in stories of the many adventures there. Water skiing, sailing, scuba diving, basketball, walks to the Valley and twin lakes, scouting, sawmill mountain ski chalet, cabins on Link lake, cabins out at the bay, camping out in the inlets, school clubs, Teen Town, Rocky Mountain Rangers, graduation, mill shifts, coming and going on Princess Norah, Northland Prince, seaplanes, and so many more experiences.
Have many pictures from those times and enjoy looking over them from time to time. One picture that came to ...Expand for more
mind that has a lot of familiar faces that you might remember. See it in the gallery. Can you identify the occasion and those who were there?
Those collective experiences stay with me. Leaving Ocean Falls for Vancouver 58 years ago and have lived in the lower mainland ever since. Many job experiences along with teaching part-time at BCIT School of Business, Financial Management, instructor. Got my accounting designation while working for BC Hydro and started teaching part-time 42 years ago. Retired in 2008 however, since my health and mental acumen are still up to teaching part-time, that part of life continues. Now living in South Surrey near Crescent Beach I am on the water a lot in various crafts with my children and grandchildren. I owe a lot to the life lived in Ocean Falls, not the least due to swimming a lot, that I have an active senior life despite health episodes along the way.
Hoping and looking forward to reading the memories you share soon!
