Randy's Story
Where to start? I suppose I should start after high school. Upon graduating from Desert Christian in 2000, I went to AV College for 3 years. I got my A.A. in Piano Performance and decided that pursuing a career in music ministry was a wonderful way to blend my love of music with my desire to serve God.
With this in mind, I enrolled in Simpson College in Redding, CA where I spent 2 great years with some very amazing people who I love dearly and got increasingly frustrated with the music program. They were much more interested in the performance aspect of music than the ministry aspect of my major, so after 2 years of getting nowhere, I transferred to William Jessup University in Rocklin, CA near Sacramento where I believed I would find a school more interested in the church music ministry aspect of a Worship Ministries major. What I got was a bit more freedom in the choice of music I performed, but a performance major it was, none the less.

re more or less forced me to drop out of school and return home to Rosamond. I am currently going to ITT Tech in Sylmar, CA for an A.S. in Computer Networking and I plan to pursue a B.S. in Network Security. If all goes according to plan, I intend, ultimately, to do network security for either a fairly large company or the U.S. government.
If it sounds like I've given up on music, let me say that's not the case at all. I still play piano and guitar as well as singing as much as I can. I'm trying to learn as many instruments as possible and, if all goes according to plan (again) I should be starting a Celtic folk band with some friends fairly soon. It's just that I've come to realize that music ministry isn't about getting a degree. It's about having a heart to serve God and a desire to use music to do that. It's been an expensive lesson, to be sure, but one that I sorely needed to learn, and I'm still learning.
I'm sure that I'll edit this further to include jobs I've had and other details, but I think this'll do for a start. :-)
