Randy's Story

Hi everyone. My story is that after school I married Janice Shaffer and we are still together since 1972. We live in Concord, California and have four children. Jason, 30, lives in Walnut Creek with his wife Jacquie and daughter Kailey. Emily is 27 and she lives here with her husband Tony and their recent arrival, Brooke, Rachel, 17 and Nathan, 15, both attend Concord High School. My mom and oldest brother Jeff both live within 10 minutes and my other brother, David lives in San Mateo. I retired from the Emeryville Police Department iin 2005 and Jan plans to retire in the next five years. She works as a labor and delivery nurse...Expand for more
at Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek. Right now our lives are busy with the grandchildren and we are loving every minute of it. We travel just a bit, usually gong to Disneyland, southern California and then different parts of Oregon, where we would like to buy property someday. Pretty busy with the younger kids, one plays softball and the other does baseball and basketball. All in all, I find it hard to believe that while I was working that I had any time for the things that keep me busy now. I have come to believe that you need to enjoy what you have, not what you want and when your time comes there's nothing that will stop it.

The only thing untrue about this picture is that he no longer is able to come out the front door of the plane, he exits the rear door because the steps are more negotiable for him. Even the secret service has asked each oth

Emeryville aerial 1980s. Find your favorite place.
I know some people will remember this business in Emeryville. The sign now resides in my backyard.
My favorite fire truck.
This one is for Ronnie. The Emeryville dump probably during the 50s and 60s.
Another one for Ronnie. Emeryville looking east, the other dump would have been in the lower left part of picture. There are so many places that are now gone in this picture.
Busy day yesterday. Met with my friend Phil and had him sign my YA album. A nice 2 hour conversation mostly about music and the bay area. Always nice to catch up with friends. Went around triangle area and marina area for p
I know that people that lived in the triangle area of Emeryville know what this is, and knew what time it was when it went off. San Pablo and 41st Street.
Look familiar to anyone? Hint: On Essex Street North of 43rd.
Crazy artwork under the freeway at Powell Street.
This was sent to me by Danny Martinez in Arizona. Better take care Joe, I think someone is trying to warn you.
A little fun.
Danny Martinez sent me a story that he contributed to a Car and Driver magazine contest. He won $100. Thanks Danny.
Some people may know this house, certainly I would think that Jones would remember it as it was close by back then. Another photo from the historical society.
Never too many pictures of the famous Mudflat Sculptures. Another Historical Society photo.
Another good find today. Love this compilations, especially ones from the past radio stations. I listened to this one many times as a kid on our stereo.
