Ray Levin:  

1946-48 Attended Roosevelt High School. Lettered in basketball. Quit school in January 1948 to enlist in the Navy for three years. 1948-52 Stationed in the Aleutian Islands for eighteen months in Naval Air. I then was stationed at the Naval Station, Treasure Island in San Francsco assigned to the Admirals Staff of the Pacific Reserve Fleet. With six months left on my enlistment, the Korean War broke out and my enlistment was extended an additional 12 months. I volunteered for sea duty and helped recommission the U.S.S. Navarro, an attack transport. Instead of going to Korea, my ship was deployed to the Atlantic. I was discharged in January of 1952 as a Yeoman Second Class. 1952-54 I enrolled at ELA College in September of 1952. I played basketall one year and lettered. I was elected President of the Associated Mens Students. I met and fell in love with a cute cheerleder named Betty Livingston who eventually became my wife. I graduated in June of 1954 and transferred to Long Beach State College. 1954-57 Between semesters of my junior year, 1955, Betty and I were married.
