Ray's Story

Life Kindergarten, Grade 1 and 2 was completed in Camp Borden, Ontario at Joseph Kaebel Elementary. In 1966 we moved to Calgary and I started Grade 3 (3 to 6) at Currie Elementary. We left Calgary in 1969 and spent a couple of years in Soest, Germany. Chambly School for Grade 6 (MR SIWICK) and Soest Senior for 7 (MR DAWSON). Living in Soest was totally wonderful and I have many fond memories. Two school years were done in Winnipeg at Golden Gate Jr High. One year at Lawton Jr High in Edmonton. After Eastglen in 1977 I began my training to obtain my Commercial Pilots License and Instructor Rating. From 1979 to 1984 I was a Flight Instructor at Centennial Flight Centre. In the early part of 1985 I began flying for numerous Charter Operations here in Edmonton. In the summer of 1989 I was hired by Air Atlantic (a former Canadian Airlines Partner) in Halifax, N.S. and moved down east. I flew for Air Atlantic for 10 years until its demise in 1998. A Montreal based company called Inter-Canadien moved into Halifax to 'fill the gap' left by Air Atlantic and I was now employed by them. This turned out to be a 13 month term as Inter-Canadien ceased operations also. At this time I was offered a position in Valencia, Spain (we just sold our house) with a company called Air Nostrum. We were just in the final stages of moving when I was approached by Royal Airlines out of Montreal. They offered me a position on a Boe...Expand for more
ing 737 with my base being in Halifax. So.........I accepted and purchased another home and began to fly with Royal. The fun at Royal was short lived as Canada 3000 purchased Royal and then almost 2 years after I started with Royal I was once again unemployed. I loved living in Nova Scotia but after 4 airline failures I decided it was time to move back to Edmonton. At the present time I am employed with Alta Flights Charters as a Captain on a Fairchild Metro 23 and I am into my seventh year with them. The work is totally awesome and I love it more than the airlines. The flying is challenging and the destinations we fly to are usually very interesting. So thats my basic career story and here is the rest of my life............. Currently living in Devon and I am married to an awesome lady named Josephine. We have 4 amazing children. Tangraya Amelia Morley born 1988 in Moncton N.B., Jennifer Elizabeth Morley born 1990 in Halifax, Thomas Edward Morley born 1997 in Halifax and Cameron McKenzie Morley born 1999 in Halifax. Two girls and two boys = one busy life! When I am not chasing kids I enjoy digital photography, restoring my 1970 Opel Kadett, driving around in our 1959 and 1967 VW Beetles and 1976 and 1978 Honda Civics. We also do a fair amount of camping, car shows and just having fun as a family. Cheers Ray School I would have to say our 'Grande Fromage' Arnold Holmes was my greatest goal provider.
