Raymond (Neal)'s Story
Life
I have a great family! I enjoy playing trumpet for church orchestra and small groups. I have become a single digit handicap golfer (average drive 275+, no kidding).
Not sure what I'll do when I grow up ;-)
School
It was difficult to make friends since I went only 2 years at Nevada. But I had some really nice friends and memories from those 2 years.
I didn't enjoy writing footnotes on the bottom of every page in Ms. Myrtle Pickens Englsh class though. I remember telling her I wanted to make "endnotes" instead.
College
I went to University of Missouri - Rolla (Missouri School of Mines) for several years. Things didn't work out too well for me there. People there were into drinking/drugs too much, and the professors were almost useless as instructors. Perhaps it was just dumb luck.. dunno.
Anyway, after getting my life messed up for a year or two, I went to Wichita State University. I was happy there. The professors ...Expand for more
were very helpful, and I was able to work in Wichita while attending college. I really buckled-down my last two years of school there.
I got married in 1982 (to a really great woman!!) while in my last year of school. I graduated in 1983 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
Workplace
After college, I worked for Boeing in Wichita for several years on a missle program. I designed electronic hardware for the guidance system.
Then I worked for Rockwell-Collins in Cedar Rapis, Iowa for 11 years. Great company. Designed autopilot systems for business jets.
From there I moved back to Wichita and worked for Learjet for 2 years. I got tired of working 60-80 hour weeks and landed a job with the FAA. I've been working for the FAA for over 7 years now. Pretty happy too.
I'm a trained aircraft accident investigator and I have extensive knowledge of most aircraft systems. I also have a good understanding of software and hardware design.
