Rebeca's Story

Life Well, I'm currently working at the Illinois Math and Science Academy. I work in Residence Life. I'm single which isn't too bad. I keep busy with by talking with friends, work, and family. I am finally finished with my Masters in Management. Everything is good so far. I would have never thought that I would continue my education past 5yrs of college. I have a lot that I still want to accomplish. College College was fun. I played soccer, made lots of friends, and I was involved in clubs. Sometimes I miss college but then I wake up and think life is good. Retreats were fun and memorable. Soccer was great. Well eventually I had to graduate. My degree was a BA in Recreation Administration. After graduating May 2000, I went on to work at MCSPORTS in Joliet. It wasn't a good fit so I started looking for a new job. Nine months later, I couldn't find anything full time that was promising. So I hopped around from job to job. July 2002, I heard of a job opening back at good old USF, so applied. The first job I applied for did pan out but I got another job at USF. I was working in Residence Life at USF for about 2 years. I lived and worked at the apartments off of Center Street. It's been a challenging experience. Then a tornado hit the building April of 2004. So I had to more back on campus which royally stinked. Then my 2 year journey at USF ended in August of 2004. I'm currently working at the Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora in the...Expand for more
residence life department. I have completed a Master degree in Management from the University of St. Francis December 2004. Who knows what the future holds. I just know that my current job is not my ultimate goal. Workplace After high school I work at the then College of St. Francis now University of St. Francis. I worked in Student Life with Arlene Finkle(Brett's mom), Sue Trousil(Jenna's mom), and Lori McNamara (Kelly's mom).It was a crazy but fun environment. I was there for about 4 1/2 years. Then college ended and I had to get a real job. So my first "real job" was at MCSPORTS in J-town(Joliet). I stayed there for about 9 months. Plus I worked at Waldenbooks in the Louis Joliet Mall and the Plainfield Park District. YES I WAS CRAZY TO DO THAT!! After about 2 months, I quit Waldenbooks. In December, I stopped working at the Plainfield Park District. Then I did a little temp work. Worked at the Romeoville Park District.I taught at my old grade school-P.E. That was surreal experience in itself. I was working along side some of my own grade school teachers. Plus I still had cousins who went to St. Andrew's (in Romeoville) which was even stranger. Anyways, I then landed at my alma mater USF in residence life. I stayed there for about 2 years and moved on to IMSA. I'm here in residence life with my 22 high school girls. Such drama living among high school girls. My journey here at IMSA will end in June where I will hopefully have a new job.
