Rebecca's Story

Workplace After highschool, instead of going on to college or university I decided to join the workforce. I started working with the family business in the cargo industry. I then branched off into the customs brokerage field, staying with that for a few years. Another career change allowed me to transfer to Vancouver BC with the company I was with. Many jobs followed, all within the cargo industry but then a change of events (Sept 11, 2001) forced my hand to seek other means of employment. I went a different direction, to passenger movement. Starting as a dispatcher for a tour bus company then learned how to drive these beasts and conduct tours around Vancouver and to the interior of BC. I decided to go in a different direction all together, I'm now working as a certified HVAC technician/mechanic (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) I repair the HVAC systems on commerical vehicles (mainly tour coaches) and I'm enjoying every minute of it! o tight places but still strong enough to carry out the job with efficiency and ease. I've been told that I'm the only female in Canada to be trained in this particular field. With this new profession, I've been able to expand my knowledge to electronics and repairing/rebuilding motors and heat exchangers. The bonus about this job is that I'm always learning something new and everyday is a challenge. Jan 2008 Last year was a very busy year for me. I was married in July to a wonderful man I met a year ago in Vancouver. We had a small ceremony in Vancouver on the rooftop of our condo building overlooking English Bay. We had our reception in Las Vegas in October with about 30 of our closet friends and family attending. Five days of craziness you can only find in Vegas. It was great and very memorable. In December, we flew to Dublin Ireland to visit friends for a couple of weeks. Had another memorable trip. If you want to check our our webpage please contact me.
