Rebecca's Story

Life Ok, lets see... A lot has changed since my last bio. After high school I got married (in '89). Then I had two boys (in '91 and '92). Then in '95 I was divorced and 33 days later I got married again. (What was I thinking/smoking?) (jk about the smoking thing) Then I had two more children, (in '97 and '98)a boy and a girl. Then almost 7 years later I got divorced again (in '02). I bought my first house ('04) I'm so psyched! Well, I'll be more psyched a billion payments from now when it's paid for. I cant believe I'm the mom of TEENAGERS! They are so handsome and cool and my little boy, he's so sweet and artistic, and my baby, I cant imagine life without her; bossy and cutesy all rolled into one. It cant get much better than this! School I was so happy to be out of high school that it was difficult to walk back in one. I did a three year tour at Cedar Valley that did not end in an associates I hate to admit. I did like school there tho. My favorite classes were speech (although I was shy and nervous), astronomy (woohoo star gazing), aerobics and weight training (no comment), and american history (cool teacher). I was supposed to go on to a four year school, but I got a little sidetracked with all the marrying, child bearing, divorcing and working. Maybe in the next couple of years I'll go finish school and learn how to write. ;) Workplace I remember my very first job and back then you had to wait until you were 15 to get a social security card. Now you get them when you're born. But my first job was at Del Taco in Lancaster (where the Whataburger is now). After school I would walk to work and on my break I'd do my homework. That job was pretty fun. Then I worked at Arby's in DeSoto (now it's a Starbucks) with my friend Robyn. We had a good time there. Working in fast food prepares you for the real world, I think all teenagers should experience it. Then after I was married I worked at "Red Bird Mall" now Southwest Center (if it's still there) at Probe Research. That was very interesting and fun and in the summer my Mom would work there (because she was on break from teaching school). So it was fun to work with my Mom. Except she was better at it than I was and was promoted to be my boss!! While I was at Probe a lady approached me and asked if I'd like to do retail (which I didn't) but she was wanting to hire me as the manager and the pay would be a lot more than what I was getting at Probe, so then I started managing Modules (I have no idea what's in that space now) maybe you remember "units" the really comfortable tshirt material type clothes? Well that's what it was. I made a lot of money then. The sports stor...Expand for more
e that was adjoining it bought us out and they offered me a store in Houston if I'd move, but I decided to go back to Probe instead. Then I stayed in the market research business with my Mom. We worked well together. She was offered her own office and more money so she gave up teaching alltogether. I worked at Probe in Irving Mall while and I was pregnant with my first son. The people there were soo awesome! I miss those co workers!! After I had my son I went back to college and just did market research on the weekends. Then in '95 I got married and moved to Hutchins and I was offered a teaching position at Hutchins Baptist School. (My mom taught there and I attended that school from 5th to 9th grade) I taught the preschool class for three years. That was the most FUN most rewarding job I've ever had!! I loved the other teachers too, they were awesome sweet ladies! Then the 4th and 5th grade teacher moved away, so they asked me to teach that class. Let me just say that it was challenging!! The kids were great though. I hope they got something out of my class at least. If you were in my class and you're reading this, email me and say Hi!! I remember that in '98 when I had my daughter, I only took two weeks leave and then came back. I guess I wasn't ready because I was constantly tired. I ended up the following year moving the kids and myself to our church school VCA. I thought that would be good because I'd be able to take all the kids with me, no babysitter needed. Well, my job at VCA was to greet and settle the kids in the morning starting at 7 and then assist in the preschool class until nap time and then I had a break until 3 when I went back to the school and stayed until 6 or 7 with the after school care program. I was so tired you could have knocked me over with a feather, so needless to say, I took a break. So then I stared working at Carlene Research at Collin Creek Mall in Plano. That was fun and I worked with my Mom and my sister in law and my best friend!! In 2004 I decided that it was too much to drive from Lancaster to Plano on 75 everyday and that we should just move closer to work. The same year we moved out of that space in Collin Creek Mall and moved over to Richardson Square Mall. Did I mention that I loved those co workers too?!! I even got to work with my neice on occasion. Not too long after we moved in and got settled did we notice and hear rumors that the mall was closing and we got notice that we would be closing that location. I was devastated because I just bought a house! Then in March '06 I got a phone call from Bearcom.... Military Married two Marines, I've done my duty to my country.
