Hello all, I currently live in the Inland Empire with my partner of 3 1/2 years, Michael, and our three cats, Cap'n Whiskers, Sake, and Sister Shayla Shayla (10 points to name that anime!). We work for the same company, and in our spare time together we like to watch movies, play online together (LOTRO), and go for the occasional club outing (goth). Life has been a long and windy road, with many obstacles. I have learned much and every day is a growth experience for me. I am not as trusting and naive as I used to be, though as naive as I was that may not be saying much, lol. :) My main focus in life has tended toward personal growth and expansion, I've learned alot of lessons the hard way, but I feel that in the end it is worth it. It is much better to be able to say something with conviction than it is to recite platitudes and be unsure, in my opinion. Most importantly, I think that to be able to see the obstacles one faces as opportunities to learn, grow, and experience compassion (either as the sufferer or the giver) is a gift and something everyone should strive to acheive. It is too easy to get caught up in the illusion of every day life and its difficulties, never noticing one is steps away from the light at the end of the tunnel (if one would just turn around and look). I try to let that be my mantra when times are tough (notice that word "try", lol), and use my gifts to bring comfort to the people I encounter in little ways, usually through my words. Currently I work in an office environment. Before that I spent nearly 11 years in the retail industry, 5+ at Barnes and Noble. During that time I learned that bookselling is alot like bartending, lol. People will come up to you and say just about anything! I like to think that I helped to make life just a little easier for some of my customers, and if I hadn't gotten to the point where I could not physically accomodate the work I might still...Expand for more
