Rebecca's Story
Life
After graduation, I spent a year at NMU. Then Jim and I were married and lived in upstate NY for 2 years, where I got an AAS in Nursing. The Navy sent us to Virginia, next. While Jim was away at sea, I worked at a hospital and continued full-time college for a BSN. In August of 1992, I graduated, quit my job as a home health nurse, and had our first child. In the next 4 years, we had 2 more kids. Jim left the Navy in 1998, and we all moved to Maryland. I'm still a homemaker/volunteer with the occasional odd job. My latest one was home teaching...Expand for more
kids who had gotten into trouble--that lasted 4 months. Jim works for Siemens Building Technologies as a Group Operations Supervisor (mechanical division), and he's a Coast Guard Reservist. He was called to active duty in 2003, but fortunately, he just went to North Carolina. We visit Gwinn about every summer to see Jim's parents.
2006 Update: I've found my calling! Well, for the time being, anyway. I'm starting my second year as a 3rd grade teacher's aide at a Catholic elementary school. I'm hoping this will get me by until the kids graduate.
