Reggie's Story
Life
I just moved back to NC after being away for 25 years. My wife Tammi and I have made Charlotte our home. We had a new home built last year so we are truly happy and greatful for what we have. I've been in the married game for 13 years now. I have 2 grown daughters and 3 grandchildren( 2 boys, 1 girl). In my free time I'm a front man for a local band out of Charlotte called "Anotha Royalty". I love to sing every chance I get. Even though the music business is a very tough business to break into, I know I have what it takes to get it done. My dream is to play a big show for my classmates..
School
I'd like to hear from my classmates. I have some great memories of playing football with Mike, Benny, Eddie, Smitty, Swanny, Jimbo and the gang. Hanging out at the pond with Kip and Benny was too much fun.
Military
I attended boot camp in Orlando,FL. in the summer of 83. After "AT" school I was stationed in Norfolk,Va. with a PRECOM unit for the ship I was going to be assigned to. My unit was later transfered to Bath,Maine were my ship was under construction at Bath Iron Works...Expand for more
. My first command, the USS DeWert FFG-45 was a guided missile frigate home based in Charleston,SC. Since I was part of the first crew that made me a "PLANKOWNER". My career was a little rough at the beginning. Being a deck seaman wasn't easy work by any means but I was working with a great group of guys who made it all worth while. I moved on to become an Interior Communications Technician(IC). I got off active duty and transfered to the Naval Reserves for 4 years stationed onboard the USS Mount Baker. After 7 yrs in the Navy I can say that I've gotten more out of the Navy than I would have imagined.
Being in the Navy has taken me almost around the world from the Caribbean to Europe and beyond. I've met some very interesting people whom I've managed to stay in touch with over the years. We've had some good and bad times on board the Ricky D but the wild and crazy times will always be with me. That's my navy career in a nutshell....there's more but, well you know how it is? :) I'd like to say GOD Bless to Mike Black for he is no longer with us. You will truly be missed "Turbo"
