Rene's Story

The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Kerry Eaton, because I had such a great time going from High School to College with her. Most of my College memories have her in them. After high school I moved to Portland and went to the University of Southern Maine. I graduated in 1994 with a BS in Criminology. In the fall of 1994 I move to Arizona and became a juvenile probation officer. In 1998, I met my future husband and we were married in 2000. We moved to South Carolina in 2000, where I worked as an investigator at the Department of Social Services. I quit my job in 2004 to adopt a little girl and then went to work for the Department of Juvenile Justice as a juvenile probation officer. We finalized our adoption in 2006 for Libby and in 2007 we fostered her brother and finalized our adoption of Dylan in 2009. January of 2008, I quit my job to be a full time mom. ying at home with the kids (Libby is 5 and Dylan is 2) and am very active with foster parents in our county. I am the President of the Lexington County Foster and Adoptive Parents' Association and I am also a private contractor with the State Foster Parents Association, where I train foster parents around the state. I also have a side business creating jewelry. My husband, Ed, is a professor at Columbia College and was the Chair of the Department for three years. We have one dog, Maggie, and we had a cat that was with me since 1993 and she recently passed away. We own our own home and have been living in one place for over 8 years now.
