Renea's Story
I attended Holy Comforter/St. Cyprian School in NE Washington, DC from 5th to 8th grade. Some of the faces and names from that time are completely jumbled in my mind - but they are also moments of sheer clarity when I have some really wonderful memories .
After graduating from Holy Comforter, I went to Holy Trinity in Georgetown, DC. Unfortunately, that small, Catholic HS closed two years later as part of a consolidation effort(?) by the DC Archdiocese. So, I enrolled at Bowie High School as a junior. Going from a small, parochial, all-female school to a massive (by comparison) co-ed, public one was quite a culture shock ...
Shortly after graduating from Bowie, I joined the Army with dreams of traveling and becoming a broadcast journalist. Many years later, I'm pleased to say that I achieved both those goals and then some.

In 1983, I took a break from the Army to get married, attend school, start a family, etc. Seven years later, as a divorced, single-mother (of a now-21 year old son), I went back into the Army. Today, after deploying to two warzones, I have retired with more than 20 years of service.
I had promised myself that I would enjoy "retired life" before I jumped right back into anything. And I have been keeping my word .... with continent-hopping, home-improvement projects, gardening .... oh yeah, and getting re-aquainted with old friends!
