Renee's Story

Hey Everyone! After living all over New England the past 20 years, I am now settled in South Portland, Maine. Some of you may remember my boyfriend, Joe Cabaup, from the 20th reunion...well, he popped the question on Christmas Eve, and we married in February of 2004. A few months later, we were surprised to discover that I was pregnant - pretty wonderful considering that I was told that I would never have children. In January of 2005, we welcomed our daughter, Danielle Elise, who has just turned three years old. :) I am also step-mom to Joe's two children from a prior marriage - Katie, who is 9, and Jonathon, who is 7. A bit more challenging, as some of you who may be step-parents can attest! After graduation, I trained to be an EMT and enjoyed the profession for a short while before being involved in a career-ending car accident. After that, I have worked on and off in a variety of medical offices as a secretary, medical assistant, and office manager. Currently, I manage a one physician Family Practice office in Portland, Maine, where I am manager, secretary, MA, and chief bottle washer. :P For the past 10+...Expand for more
years, I have also been running an alternative sexuality support group called CUFSnorth, which serves Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. The group provides education, support, and safety information to people who practice BDSM, as well as outreach services to educate social service agencies, police departments, and hospitals. I am also the New England Regional Coordinator for the National Leather Association-International's Domestic Violence Project. Between both oprganizations, I've lectured all over New England and nationally about BDSM safety and the differences between consensual, loving BDSM relationships and abusive relationships. I am on hiatus from the University of Maine at Augusta, where I am studying a specialized track of social services (domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and pedophilia) as well as criminal justice. I hope upon graduation to work for either a social service agency as an educator, or a state or local police department as a victim's advocate. I'd love to hear from folks from the class of 83. I look forward to seeing you all again at the next reunion. :) Best wishes, Renee
