Rhadean's Story
After I graduated from high school, I worked in an insurance office. After that I was a secretary and bookkeepper for a real estate group. Married Dec. 28, 1968. Took an accounting class at (then PJC) PCC. Ran the kitchen for Southland Baptist Temple when they had a school. Family owned Adrians in Lone Oak, so I was cohersed into going in the family business. (Didn't want a horse head in my bed) lol. My accounting classes came in handy for doing payroll. Businesss moved to Leroy and Litas Restaurant. My step brother and I ran it for our parents. After my Dad passed, I lost interest. My step mother sold and I started my own catering business. I took a year off to help take care of my mother, who had a severe stroke. After she passed, I started a job at Lourdes where I started out in Food Service. Took training for dietitian tech. Lo...Expand for more
ved my job. Came in contact with all kinds of people. Worked mainly on cancer floor. I got to know the patients and their families very well. I received a few awards over the years. Was deeply involved in the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life for several years. I really was blessed. I felt like God put me there for a reason because I not only cared for the patients, I cared for their souls, too. I held a lot of hands and shouldered a lot of tears. Very rewarding job. I am now retired and loving it. Wouldn't trade my life for anything. I still dwell on my youth, who doesn't. It makes me homesick for the younger years, but I get over it and consentrate on the here and now. My husband and I share 5 kids, 16 grandkids and10 great grandkids with one more on the way in December. My life is full, and I love my family very much.
