I left Santa Rosa in 1975, or should I say I was ran out of town because of my behavior. I was very good at dirty dancing and an alternative lifestyle, wore eye make up to school and was a real embarrassment especially after getting busted for Pot on campus 10/04/66. I spent the following 30 years in and out of rehabs, I was one of the 1st to go thru the Betty Ford Clinic. I was married for 29 years 10 months and lived in LA, Orange County, Palm Springs, WDC , Maryland, VA, Mississippi, Montana and the Bay Area. I served in the USAF, I travelled to Copenhagen and was in Munich in 72 when the Israeli Olympic team were murdered, I worked most of the late 60’s to 80’s as a CNA, I graduated college with my major in nursing and minor in theatre arts .,I was a private nurse to the stars of old Hollywood and as a hobby I did celebrity photography. While in WDC I went to an open casting call at the Kennedy Center with the Washington opera, my 1st performance was in Verdi’s “Otello” as a peasant and master fighter, this open doors for me with the Washington Opera, Wolf Trap, NYC opera, Baltimore Opera, Catholic Univ opera, LA and SF opera companies, twice with the American Ballet Theatre, Australian Ballet and Pina Bausch of Wuppertal Germany, was interviewed on TV for my opinion on the Death of Diana and also Jon Bonet. er when the Gulf War started, I was getting ready to sign up to go out on The USS COMFORT hospital ship, but they asked me to stay behind and run the unit, I ended up Being awarded the highest honor bestowed on a nurse. I was the first male, first civilian and first LVN to receive the award. It was for my compassionate work I did with active duty military with AIDS., I also set up good drives for people with AIDS and set up a video lending library for them by writing letters to the people in the industry, Imagine my surprise when a box of VHS tapes arrived from Stephen Spielberg. I also wrote letters to get my patients autographed photos, my patients received them fro Diana Ross, Elizabeth Taylor, Eileen Brennan, Whoopi, and Goodie Hawk , the most shocking was the mother of one of my patients chose to stay with her son instead of attending Mass with Pope John Paul. Several weeks went by and And envelope arrive from the Vatican to her some with a hand written letter from the Pope, He told her she did the right thing by staying with her dying Son and because of that he had a special Novena said for him .,I have not lived a boring life, I have been given opportunities that some dream of. . In 2000 I lost my Dad, In 2001 I got clean and sober, In 2005 I divorced my husband and moved on with my life. On Christmas Eve 2006 I turned my life over to Jesus and left the Gay Lifestyle my older sister died suddenly also. I lost my Mother in 2020. Today I enjoy gardening, baking, cooking and making things for others,I enjoy teaching a Bible Study or preaching a sermonette when asked. I am no longer that skinny gay boy, but I am the man Hod created and not the one I did, he opened many doors and closed others, but His will was done. . I look forward to the day He says to me “Enter my faithful servant, I am pleased” my early years were sheer hell mostly my doing, but it helped me become the man I am today.
