Richard's Story
Life
born: New Haven, CT; B.A. in Music [cum laude]- theory & composition- from Boston University; free-lance writer & researcher, composer & arranger/singer & songwriter, professional pseudo-intellectual, "the newborn at every wedding, the mistress at every funeral"
School
Attended schools in Hamden, CT (K); Staten Island, NY (1 thru 4); Madison, NJ (4th grade thru HS)... not much more to say... slunk thru the halls along the walls!
College
BU was better than Madison [NJ] High... in college, took a lot of courses in Astronomy, History and PoliSci, the Social Sciences, stuff that wasn't emphasized in public school... got my parents' money's worth!
Currently
Researcher and Commentator for TheGreenPapers.com, an independent source for political/electoral information since 1999... "we were blogging BEFORE it was cool!"... did weekly political analysis on XM Satellite Radio's POTUS channel during the 2008 Prima...Expand for more
ries and Caucuses and again on Election Day itself.
In Closing (and in retrospect)
I would have to honestly say that, until I got to Boston U., I learned a lot more outside of formal education... in a way (weird and strange though the 'ad hoc' manner employed may well have been), I pretty much home-schooled myself... met quite a few amongst my peers during my school daze who were (and, in some cases, remain to this day) important to me (don't get me wrong!) but, for the most part, K thru 12 was simply an eight months out of every year term to which I had been sentenced by three different States... though I will, nonetheless, always treasure high school Drafting class, high school Music Theory class, the Madison High Computer and Photography Clubs and, of course, two years on that very core of journalistic integrity [;-)]: the Madison High School 'Dodger' (none of which I would have experienced without school!)
