Richard's Story

If I do not reply to you for visiting my profile or signing my guest book, please understand I am not being deliberately rude. I am just being frugal (Gaelic: cheap, stingy, miserly). I cannot bring myself to fork over $2.46/month for Gold membership. Blame it on my ethnicity. I do not have a Facebook page, nor do I want one. I do have a LinkedIn page, but Twitter is not even on my radar. I wrote a novel in 2008, "Live to Ride," under the pen name Bo Edwards (ISBN 978-0-9801345-0-6). I wrote an engineering textbook, "Ceramography" (ISBN 0-87170-770-5) under my real name in 2002. Both can be viewed at Amazon.com. "LtR" is available at the Pueblo Public Library. I have also written an autobiography and two memoirs, not for publication but family only. My wife Patsy (nee Mejia '78) & I celebrated our 30th anniversary in 2013. We have two dau...Expand for more
ghters, a grandson born in Jul '07, and a granddaughter born in Jul '13. Patsy has her own Classmates page. I set a goal way back in 1976 to ride my bicycle across the USA. Thirty-plus years later, I finally realized it! I rode solo from the Oregon coast to Pueblo in Jul '06, and from Newport News, VA, to Pueblo in Aug-Sep '07. Not enough time or money to do it in one shot. I spent about 7 weeks on the road and covered 4793 miles. In Aug '11, I rode from Pueblo to Sacramento, CA. I like hiking, too, and have climbed 24 state summits and 27 of Colorado's Fourteeners as of 2014. I never thought of trying out for the baseball team at Central, but I have played recreational softball for 18 seasons and counting, with a few league titles to show for it. I have been a research materials engineer at a small national laboratory in Oregon since 2000.
