Richard's Story
Life
Went to CA after graduation to earn my fortune. Got hungry and joined the USAF for one hitch and ended up with tough duty in Hawaii. Went on to tech school, landed a job with McDonnell Aircraft Co. and was sent to FL to work on the space program in the early 60's. Was part of the launch crew for John Glenn's historic first flight and the other Project Me...Expand for more
rcury and Gemini flights.
Met my wife in a hanger at Cape Canaveral in 63 and got married in 64. Have two children and three grandchildren.
Tried my own business in the 70's in IL and almost froze. I forgot how cold it gets up there.
Back to FL in 1978 to work on the Space Shuttle/Space Station program until I retired as a Senior Electrical Engineer in 1998.
