Richard's Story

Richard Liebespach (speaker ◇ teacher ◇ trainer) Self-Protection Essentials, llc Saving Lives and Preventing Rapes! I teach people how to stay safe and how to get to safety, when needed, with or without a weapon. You can see my contact info in my photo gallery. I am now a Speaker\Trainer\Podcaster about the most important 5 seconds of your life. That's the time you will need to get to safety when you are attacked. I'm teaching Self-Protection (not self-defense) Self-Defense is "Oh My God! I'm being attacked! Now what do I do?" I teach you how to keep things from getting that far. If you do need it, I do teach physical techniques you can use to to safety. I am on Linkedin and Facebook under my name, or Self-Protection Concepts, or Okinawan Fighting Arts, or Handgun Safety. I've published articles in Linkedin Pulse and been interviewed on some of the largest radio shows. I used to say that I was a computer programmer by day, a karate instructor by night, teaching handgun safety and concealed weapons permits every other weekend, and every other weekend I run through the wood shooting people. I am a part of an organization that uses paintball to raise money for local charities that have to do with helping Widows, Orphans, and the families of Law Enforcement Officers slain in the line of duty. (we have raised over $70,000.00) I found out, when I was 44, that I was adopted as a child. My birth name was actually, Ross Michael Wiseman. I was removed from my birth family when I was about 6 weeks old. At 6 months I was placed with a foster family that ended up adopting me. It was my adoptive mom that was with us on all our school field trips. I have now found my birth family. I recently found out that I have 4 sisters (and a brother), 2 of whom are survivors of Domestic Violence! I ended up moving from Elmsford to N.Ft.Myers, FL. in February of '75, so I wasn't at graduation with you guys. The school in Florida was so behind that it was a joke. I'd had more science and math at Hamilton than they offered in N. Ft. Myers. Since I graduated on N.Y. standards, all I needed was a 1/2 credit of English, so I took a voca...Expand for more
bulary class. Once I guaranteed myself a passing grad, I quit going.... that was somewhere around mid-march. From there I went to the University of South Florida. I thought I knew what I wanted to be when I "grew up", but it didn't go as I planned. The entire thing was a huge culture shock. I went from a graduating class of 73 people, to a high school with more students in my grade than Hamilton had students... to a university that had more students in my math class, then Hamilton had students! USF, even back then, had 23,000 students! I thought I wanted to be a physics major... That never happened. I ended up getting a degree in Sociology. That was a waste. For a while I thought I'd become a minister. That didn't pan out either. After several years I went back to USF and got a degree in Computer Science. It was during that time that I met and married Judy...That was 1985. Workplace After I graduated, I ended up working as a computer programmer, doing database applications for 12 different companies in 8 years. Then I found the company I worked at until recently. I spent just under 13 years working at The Omnia Group, as a computer programmer. Their product is a personality profile that companies use when evaluating people for various positions. These are mainly used by employers, but they also have a product intended for the individual... for self-discovery and career assessment. On Halloween that job came to an end. I am now a Self-Protection specialist helping people who want to Be their own hero . I am a 3rd degree black belt in karate. I've been teaching karate since 2007. Since 2012, I have been doing Self-Protection seminars for women in the workplace, teens going off to college, Realtors and others. I am also a NRA instructor, teaching firearms safety and concealed weapons classes. My dream clients are companies and organizations that have their own fitness center, because they care about the well being of their employees. I am allowed to present these seminars anywhere in the U.S., so if you have an interest in such a thing, perhaps we can work it out that I present a series of seminars in your area.
