Richard's Story
I was on the cross-country team as a freshman. I participated with the track & field team in the Spring of '73, but I was only competitive in the 440 yd race. My dad wouldn't pay for cleats, so I dropped out. I was on the speech & debate team for a year. Then, Athletics Director Ken Dudridge asked me to be the school sports photographer. I was the sports photographer during my sophomore & junior years. I played on the boys tennis team as a sophomore & junior. I earned a JV letter in tennis. I also took advanced placement, college prep classes as a junior. Since I attended summer school every summer, I left FVHS and went to Orange Coast College in Sept 1975. I didn't know anything about all of the other clubs and activities at FVHS. If I had time off, I was body surfing or boogy-boarding almost every afternoon at the Santa Ana River jetty at Huntington State Beach. I never gave sharks a thought until I saw the movie "Jaws".

ber 1977, I was a seasonal firefighter on a pumper truck. That was the best time of my life! It was exciting, strenuous, dangerous and fun. For a few months, I was a brush-crew supervisor for the US Forest Service before joining the US Navy. I served six years in the Navy as an Electronics Technician. I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. After the Navy, I worked in the SF Bay area as an Electronics Engineering Tech. I worked for ITT Worldcom and then Apple Computer. In 1994 I went up to Seattle and worked for SeaTac Airport and afterwards, Intel Corp. I was married twice and divorced twice. No children resulted from either marriage. My last couple of jobs were working at Fort Lewis as an Army civilian. I was a Biomed Equip Tech and a PC Technician. I moved to Las Vegas in 2010. I have lived here since. I am proud of my service in the US Navy. I posted a few photos of that. I have two Associates Degrees. I attended university twice, but was unable to complete a 4-year degree. My favorite hobby is camping and hiking in nature.
