Richard's Story
Life
Military: 10 Years Service in the USAF
visiting such beautiful places such as England, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Colorado, Florida, Maine, and Texas.
Job: Network Manager for UMASS Memorial Healthcare in Worcester.
Family: Married to Amy Mitchell. We have 7 Children now! My oldest son is Will, he is now 17 years old and driving! Next is Zachary-11 years old and Kayla Rose-8 years old, Mitchell, 6 years old, Brady who is 4 years old, Thomas, who is now 3 years old and the newest addition to the hockey team is Samuel, who just turned one! I couldn't ask for a better wife or a better life.
Life is hectic but good.
Workplace
Network Manager for UMASS Hospitals. I have never had a harder and more fruitful job in my life. There is always something to do and...Expand for more
always something to learn. Going from Lucent to UMASS was quite an eye opener with the long hours and incredible amounts of work but worth every second of it.
Military
I got to Loring AFB in Jan 1985, who knew then that it would be almost 10 years before I left? My experience at Loring was like being with a Bipolar person...one day you love it and the next...well, it was cold there and sometimes lonely. The friendships I made then will last a lifetime though. Some of the people I was stationed with ended up being there as long as I did if not longer. My oldest son was born in the base hospital and I won't ever forget some of the memorable snow storms that descended on us there.
Overall it was a worthwhile experience and I would never want to take away from it.
