Rick's Story
Hi lost friends and neighbors. Here it is September of 08 and I've begun working towards my Masters in Biology at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. After student teaching at Central City High last semester I've decided that I may be better served teaching college. That should take about another 2 years but I've got the time I suppose. My son just turned 18 and despite getting a 4.0 all through high school and being offered a full ride to UAB he has decided to go to school in Gadsden for two years at the community college and then follow his old man up here to Nebraska-Kearney to become a teacher. His passion is history and politics. He's going to be a hellaciously good teacher some day. I could even see him running for some sort of public office. Anyway, I still use a cane and sometimes a wheelchair to get around after my serious car crash in May of 2000, but I'm working towards getting better and am still a very happy man. I'm married to most wonderful woman in the world and we spend most of our free time trying to get people to vote for Obama. He better come through and make ...Expand for more
some changes or I'm gonna move to Canada.
Some of you may have heard that Lisa and I took in an 18 year old foster son this past summer. Turns out, that didn't work out so well. I had high hopes, although I tried to be realistic, but I think maybe he was just too old to be helped out. We managed to help him finally graduate high school but his choices of friends and activities lead to a considerable amount of damage to our household and cost me my best buddy...my rat terrier Psycho.
All in all though, things are going well and Lisa and I still plan on adopting at some point, just might be a couple years.
Feel free to drop me a note. I'm not at all good about chatting online or on the phone but if you want to hit me up with a message I'll get back to you. I spend a lot of time with my nose in books but I do come up for air occasionally. I'd love to hear how some of you are doing.....good, bad, or indifferent. If any of you are interested I have a flickr page where I post my photos.... Just goto flickr and search for TheRogueRook....I'm there and you can also find me on Facebook.
