Rick's Story
Life
The day that everyone else in my class graduated, I skipped graduation and got married to Nancy. We are still married; it will be 26 years this June. Shortly after graduation (about 2 weeks), I left for Navy basic training. I volunteered for submarine duty and ended up as a missile technician. Long story short, I stayed Navy for 26 years, spent 18 years on three ballistic missile submarines, completed more than 19 patrols (even if I wonÂt say how many more than 19), and then spent my last 6 years in the Navy working for the Director of Strategic Systems Programs. The Navy gave me the opportunity to live and travel around the country, and travel around the world. I recently finished my undergraduate education in the Legal Studies program at the University of Central Florida and will start law school in Lansing, Michigan in the fall of 2005. Nancy and I had one child; he currently lives near Seattle, Washington and works in government service at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Update as of Nov...Expand for more
ember 2007.
I have just a few weeks left in law school. I will finish classes in mid-December, and graduate on January 27. I will take the Bar Exam in February, then try to find a job.
New Update--May 29, 2008
I graduated from law school in January and took the Michigan Bar Exam in February. I passed the bar (with relative ease) and I was admitted to practice law in Michigan on May 22.
January 18, 2009
I'm working as a judicial law clerk for a judge in the 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills. Nancy just graduated from Michigan State University School of Law, so now she is studying for the February Bar Exam. Our son Rick gave us our first grandchild, a boy, in July. If you've read this far, you should drop me an email. I always enjoy hearing from old friends.
May 2009
Nancy just got her results from the February Michigan Bar Exam--she passed, I never had any doubt. She will get admitted to the Michigan Bar on June 10. On June 2, this year, we will celebrate our 30th anniversary.
