Rita's Story
Life-My Spouse: We met at Scot's Inn, I was a cocktail waitress and he was staying there from PA on a job. He was a field service Engineer. One date and it's now 43 years later. It had to be my charm.(LOL) We have lived in 5 states (PA, WI, KY, IA and KS) with his jobs. We have been in Kansas 16 years and like it here very much. We have become very involved in our church. DuWayne is a bass player in the praise band and I teach 3 and 4 year olds about Jesus. I was a Big Sister matched to Cobie for 10 years. She's a beautiful young lady who also loves Jesus. I am a 2 x's cancer survivor (thyroid and ovarian) and when I can, I help cancer patients. I volunteered in a wig boutique for 3 years but my own health has caused me to step away for now...Expand for more
. I will be cancer free 21 years in December and I was smoke free 21 years in July. The Lord is my strength and I thank Him everyday.
My Kids: My son (Kelly) is 46 and still doesn't know what he wants to be when he grows up. He did give me a beautiful Grandson (Seth) on his 21st. birthday. My daughter (Kami) is 41 and in her 19th year of teaching special ed. She and I are very close and she includes me in most all her activities. I love all of her special needs children. She became a foster parent and has a 4 year old boy named Amari. She hopes to adopt him within the next year. He is precious and loved by us all.
Update.....The adoption was final May 4th 2010 so, our new grandson is now Amari Manning Bohlman (Amarijabari Manwon Manning).
