Robert's Story

Life I was born the year the first man walked on the moon. My formative years was developed at Mercy Montessori. Upon arrival in Mississippi, I was enrolled into Choctaw Central. CCHS is where I developed a broad range of interest from Science Fiction to Music. I was member of the band and track team. I played the trumpet and pole vaulted to second place while a sophomore. In 1988, I graduated 3rd in my class. I entered into college not sure what I was going to do. After graduating from High School, I majored in music at the University of Southern Mississippi. After a few years of music, I wanted to expand my horizons and do something “important" with my life. I enlisted in the United State Marine Corps. Serving for half a decade, I lived, ate, and slept in green. The military allowed me to travel extensively, by way of contract, to such countries as Okinawa, Japan, Persian Gulf Countries such as the United Arab of Emirates and small city states like Hong Kong when it was still under British rule. I got certified as a PADI scuba diver on the coasts of San Diego. I have grown to love swimming and did so regularly. Snorkeling at La Jolla Cove was a favorite past time where occasionally swam with aquatic animals like the seal lions, the leopard sharks, and the occasional dolphins. Receiving an honorable discharge in 1997, I got acquainted with internet technologies while in southern California. Though not my first encounter with programming technologies, it was the “spark” to determine my conviction to achieve unrealized academic goals. Enrolling in a local college in San Diego, I got acquainted with developing web sites during the economic boom of the late 90’s. It was a very exciting tim...Expand for more
e to be in computing. I took part in a venture to revolutionize internet payment systems, a system not unlike phone cards sold in stores like Wal-Mart, during the dot-com era. Though it’s goal was never realized, I am proud and privileged to have been a part of something that inspired a unique American experience-the dot com revolution. I moved back to Mississippi in early 2000 where I was employed by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians as their web site developer. After a year of developing their web site, I moved back to San Diego, a grievous error on my part, in hopes to find a new exciting and profitable career. After the September 11 disaster and economic collapse, I took it upon my self to go back to college and earn a masters in computer information science. School Attended a couple of schools in Nashville and graduated at Choctaw Central High School in 1988. College I have attended to East Central Community College, University of Southern Mississippi, Platt College San Diego and Meridian Community College. My major,at Mississippi State University,is Information Systems (Masters Program). I have a B.S. in Interdiscplinary Studies (English, History, Information Systems). Workplace My work history includes the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, United States Marine Corps, and various temporary position such as Mann Theaters. Military Entered the USMC on January 3 1993 and Got out Oct 1, 1997. Stationed in Okinawa (camp schwab) and Camp Pendelton(camp los flores). I was part of West Pac 95-96 with the 15th MEU. My MOS was 0341. Completed five MCI courses: 81MM MORTAR NCO, INFANTRY PATROLLING, RECONNAISSANCE MARINE, TERRORISM COUNTERACTION FOR MARINES, and THE LAV CREWMAN.
