Robert's Story
Hmmmmm. 30 years since graduating DG. Lots happened. I went off to Southern Illinois University out of high school to major in Aviation. Wanted that airline pilots job. Transferred after one year at Southern to head up to Champaign and the University of Illinois where I finished out my degree in Aviation. Only problem was, they wanted me to enlist in the Air Force or the Navy to get my jet time for free, and well...I literally couldnt "pull the trigger", so I took a year off and managed the Papa Dels Pizza restaurant for a year, met my future wife there who was also a student at UofI and then I went back into the University as an Arts major. Majored and received a second degree in Graphic Design, and after a short stint freelancing opened my own design agency in Chicago that I've now run for the past 18 years. I have 3 beautiful children (17, 14, and 11yrs) that are the fabric of my life and I have been married 24 years this 2008. I still hang out with a large number of DG highschool friends and most everyone comments how unique it is that we all still get together. What can I say...DG and the people were a special bunch. Especially the class of 78! I love my profession but the thrill of learning and making the business work has somewhat lost its challenge so I'm looking for my new venture. A former high school alum and I are looking into our own pizza parlor in the future. I'll keep you posted on that. :) If anyones up for some golf...drop me a line.
