Robert's Story
Life
What an amazing trip it's been! I enjoy discovering new places, meeting new people, and testing new adventures and cultures. I've traveled through all fifty states and all seven continents, enjoying much of the best of the world ... and surviving a bit of its worst. Life's many surprises keep it interesting!
I try to keep safe and sane by jogging, cycling, hiking, swimming, kayaking, or whatever action is available. Periodically I run a marathon or triathlon to keep me honest and the body moving. Nowadays I keep my mind in shape playing competitive bridge, chess, or occasionally backgammon or cribbage.
I live and work on the coast overlooking the bay in Monterey, California. It's beautiful here, so plan your visit.
School
High school memories can be both the best and the worst. The best memories involve being so young with so much potential and energy with so little to lose. The worst memories are not necessarily the many painful teenage moments (or hours or days). Instead, the truly painful memories are those times I should have treated people better...Expand for more
.
Thank goodness I mostly remember the great times, especially escaping from class, school trips, and the '76 graduation with all of its anarchy and ecstasy.
College
College? Those were the best years of my life, at least those parts that I still vaguely remember. Thank goodness I've got the diplomas to verify that I was doing SOMETHING all those prime years!
Nevertheless, I have always enjoyed the life-enriching environment at colleges and universities. I still take classes and I've accumulated over 600 credits from seven different institutions. Although the only degrees I have to show for it are a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a BA in Business Economics, I plan to keep taking courses until I kick the bucket.
Workplace
My favorite workplace memories are of the interesting characters working in my dad's office in the 1980's. The incredible lifestyles and personalities of Ed M., Dave B., Tim, or Duane F. would fill the pages of several books on psychoanalysis! All fun, nice, and interesting people, too, on top of their entertainment value.
