Ann's Story

Graduated from JSU in Sociology and Education (was the 1st degree in that area), 1972, and in fact my mom graduated her masters at the same time-1st mother-daughter grads!) and masters in Education in Auburn. 1978. Taught elementary 3rd grade my 1st year in Hobson City (oooh, still remember those stories!). Continued teaching Title 1 Reading in Calhoun County and Montgomery area school until 1981 when I got a job at Ft McClellan. Was married to Army guy and went to Germany for a couple of years. What fun that was. Became director of child development center- one of the toughest jobs I've ever had-responsible for children 6 weeks to 5 years, money and facilities. Whew! We had inspections from fire department, health departement, and had an HQ ...Expand for more
who came once a year with a looonnngg checklist. Came home, worked in Chemical & MP Schools, then DOD Polygraph Institute for a few years. Got tired of it, moved to TX which was new hubby's home upon retirement from the Army and took another child development director position. We moved from TX to NM & loved it at Alamagordo-Air Force job. The area was high desert, but had mountains only 45 minutes away (Cloundcroft and Ruidoso) when we needed trees. Moved to DC area where I became an Education Specialist For Marine Corps' then moved to Pension Benefit Guarantee Corp where I became a program manager in Education dept. My fave job. Retired as GS14 and moved to The Villages Fl where Bob and I are happy little piggies in hot heaven :) Hugs, Ann
