Robert's Story
I work at NASA-Goddard, where I lead a research group that studies Earth energy balance, aerosols (particles in the air, including pollution), clouds, solar irradiance, and other factors influencing our changing climate. Greenhouse gases block about 40 percent of outgoing thermal radiation that emanates from Earth. My wife Margaret works for the US Dept of Education, evaluting programs like Upward Bound. My son Joel owns 2 bike shops in Minneapolis and is planning to take a sabattical on a farm in Pennsylvania. My son Gabriel is the "Conservation Steward for Maryland and DC" in The Nature Conservancy, and manages about 30 sites for the Conservancy. I'd be glad to hear from anyone who might remember me from "back then." ;-)
