Robert's Story
I was born in Winnipeg Manitoba and for the first 5 years lived in North Vancouver.My Dad retired from the Dry Docks in North Vancouver in 1955 and bought some property in Coquitlam on Burke Mountain,I attended the old James Park school(built in 1913) from grades 1 to 4 in Port Coquitlam and then attended Viscount Alexander School from grades 5 to 7,and then attended Mary Hill Jr. Secondary for Grade 8 and 9, there was a short time for grade 8 that I went to Argyle Secondary in North Vancouver. and was posted to the 1st Battalion at Work Point Barracks in Esquimalt,B.C. On April 26th 1970 our unit was re-badged 3 PPCLI. From my 1st marriage I have 2 daughters who were born in Victoria B.C. while in the Army, and 4 Grandchildren. After leaving the Army I moved back to Port Coquitlam and went to work at the Esco Steel Foundry for 8 years and then IPSCO in Port Moody and Noranda Metal Industries which became Wolverine Tube (Canada) Inc. which closed in 1991.I am presently employed with Metro Vancouver as a Utility Service Operator on the North Shore,(North Van City and District and West Vancouver)since Jan.1992. I am residing in Blaine Washington with my wife Patti.
