Robert's Story
Well, I'm 55 years old now. Life moves fast doesn't it? It doesn't seem that long ago, we were in school. I was able to work the same job for 30 years. I never intended to do that, but did. I was a custom woodworker in a small family owned window company. I enjoyed many aspects of the job. But over time, things slowed down, the business was sold to an outsider that was driving it in the ground. So I left and am doing something completely different now. Driving a forklift in a freezer! It just doesn't get much better. LOL Believe me, it's not the type of job a person seeks out because it sounds interesting. But it's very doable and pays the bills well! It's just kind of wierd to be dressed for -20F when it's 97 degrees outside.
I was married twice. I guess "was" isn't quite the right word. I'm seperated now. Never had any kids.
I'm still in to cars. Back in high school, I had my 1966 Plymouth Barracuda. My "pink" Barracuda as it was sometimes called. It was actually "Lilac" I didn't choose the color! I started off early as a Mopar guy and still am to this day. It's not quite the same though. I can't afford the cars I grew up with, but have a pretty big collection of '80's turbo Dodge's. (Shelby's) I do have a '68 AMX, but i...Expand for more
t hasn't been out of the garage in over 19 years. I don't expect that to change too soon.
I did lots of crazy road trips during my first marriage. We'd get bored and jump in the car and end up in some far places. Our craziest was leaving MPLS. at 1:30pm on a Friday, (At 1pm we decided to do this rather than to go play tennis. SERIOUSLY!) drive 25 hours to Renton, WA. (suburb of Seattle) stay 4 hours and 25 hours back home. Were my Wife's parents ever surprized to see us! We got home Sunday evening.
I'm addicted to garage sales and photography. It's funny, but at 10 years old, I went to my first garage sale and bought my first camera for 10 cents. The cameras cost a bit more now, but thrill of finding a treasure at a garage sale is the same.
I've been living in Coon Rapids for over 22 years now. My house is just upstream from the CR dam, near the river.
I'm just rambling here! It's my day off and I stumbed on this "Story" section of Classmates while looking at the all school reunion info. I'm not sure if I'll make it to that. It would be nice to see a few old faces, but work lots of hours on my job. I have bumped in to quite a few old friends from HS over the years. It's always nice to see them and hear what's going on their lives!
