Robert's Story

Life My name is Robert Daniel Franklin and I was born in Belen, New Mexico. I started my elementary years off at Los Chavez Elementary school in Albuquerque. I moved to Douglasville, Georgia when I was 7 (1989)and went to Mt. Carmel Elementary School from 1989-1993. I then went to Chestnut Log Middle School for half of my 6th grade year. I moved to the other side of town and finished my 6th grade year at Stewart Middle School. I moved to Los Lunas, New Mexico when I was 12 (1994) and spent my 7th and 8th grade years at Los Lunas Middle School. I moved to Heard County, Georgia when I was 14 and started my 9th grade year at Heard County Comprehensive High School where I graduated. I joined the United States Navy right after high school spending my boot camp at Great Lakes, Illinois. I then started my job training in Pensacola, Florida during the winter of 2000-2001. I transferred to NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach where I was stationed up until August when I got out of the Navy. I plan on persuing a career in music when I get my demo completed. Talk to me if you want to know more. School I spent my Kindergarten and 1st grade years at Los Chavez Elementary School in Albuquerque, NM. I have a vague memory of that time. I do remember my teacher, "Mr. Frank" dressing up like a clown all the time. I spent 2nd-5th grade at Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Douglasville, GA. I met many friends there. A few in particular: Justin Lochamy, Jenny Schauer, Amanda Bice, Dale Davenport, Lindsay Baker, Lindsey Fulton and a few others. I had many fond memories there. I spent half of my 6th grade year at Chestnut Log Middle School in Douglasville, GA and the other half of my 6th grade year at Stewart Middle School in Douglasville. My 7th and 8th grade years were spent at Los Lunas Middle School in Los Lunas, NM. Didn't care too much for that school. My high school years were all spent at Heard County Comprehensive High School in Franklin, GA. I met many great and not so great people there. I met my best friend, Chris Satterwhite there. My ex-fiancee, Becky Johnson as well as my soul mate, Lisa Gilpin. Jeni Tanner may have kept me and Lisa apart but we found ourselves in each other's...Expand for more
arms at the end. I graduated high school in May of 2000. c/o 2000 rocks!!! Workplace My first job was a construction worker with a small concrete construction company known as Sowell-Dodson Construction Co. I worked there for two months after graduating high school just before I left for the Navy. I spent 4 years in the Navy serving in different places such as Great Lakes, Illinois; Pensacola, Florida; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Fallon, Nevada; San Diego, California; Everette, Washington; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Sasebo, Japan; Hong Kong, China; Singapore; Perth, Australia just to name a few. I spent 10 months on board the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln during Operations Enduring Freedom, Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom. My ship was one of the first to bomb Iraq durring "Shock & Awe." After the Navy, I worked two jobs back to back. I worked part time at Wal-Mart during second shift hours and I worked full time at Race Trac Gas Station during third shift hours. After working those jobs for about a month or two, I got a call from the HR reps at Southwire Company in Carrollton, GA. I currently work there making nearly $15/hr. Hopefully I can make something of my music career soon. Military I joined the United States Navy on August 15, 2000. I was flown over to RTC Great Lakes, Illinois that night. I spent 12 weeks in boot camp. I spent 8 weeks in Pensacola, Florida for my "A" School. My first and only command was Fighter Squadron 31 (VF-31) at NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach. My squadron was one of the last F-14 Tomcat squadrons left. I spent time in Fallon, Nevada where I participated in "Top Gun"; San Diego, California; and Everette, Washington while stateside. My squadron was deployed on board the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) on July 24, 2002. I hit port in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Sasebo, Japan; Hong Kong, China; Singapore; Bahrain; and Perth, Western Australia. I took part in Operations Enduring Freedom, Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom. I was an Aviation Ordnanceman and helped load the bombs that dropped during "Shock & Awe". I was deployed for 10 months. 284 days. President George W. Bush came on board the Lincoln on May 1st 2003 where I got the pleasure to shake his hand.
