Suzanne has only been in it for a year but likes it a lot. My wife, Anne, and I have been married for 52 1/2 years, most of that time living in Brockton. We have three grown daughters and two beautiful seven year old grandsons. I took up ocean swimming at the age of 26 and participated in it until age 41 at which time I took a leave of absence to help raise and provide for my family. luding 4 times Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, 3 times Little Red Lighthouse swim (6 miles each) in the Hudson River, NYC, Brooklyn Bridge, around Governors Island, NYC, Boston Light Swim (this is an 8-mile swim originally sponsored by the L Street Swimming Club, So. Boston. It began in 1907. It goes from the Boston Light on Little Brewster Island near Hull and ends at the M Street Beach, So. Boston. I made this swim in 2005 at the age of 67, the oldest swimmer to ever finish the swim in its 100+ year history). I have written several books on ocean swimming and one on the 26th Yankee Division in WW1. These can be seen at Amazon.com. I miss the Commerce days and still attend the annual reunions. There I've seen Ed Fox, Walter Downey, Ed Lavery, Al Dubois, Mallory Prout and others. Teachers I remember most are Hank Chiarini (sp?), gym teacher and baseball coach, Gene Ploecenik (sp?), teacher and coach, Mr. McCarthy, typing and homeroom, Mr. McCue, Freshman homeroom, Mr. O'Leary, headmaster, and Mr. Wyeth, French. Its been a fine life to date and I and my family are very fortunately in good health. Hello to all the Commerce men. I'd like to read your stories too.
