Robert's Story

Life (highly condensed version) After Graduation, I attended Wentworth Institute in Boston and obtained an associate degree in electronics engineering. Went to work for Digital Equipment Corp in Maynard as a System Checkout Tech. Later passed the engineering review board and became a Systems Engineer.. 1969 resulted in the start of the Vietnam era experience. - enough said... Left DEC in 1974 to form Air Image Technology based out of Minuteman Airfield in Stow, MA. The company specialized in aerial mapping, remote sensinsing, aerial energy & roof surveys. Quite by accident, the company found itself later engaged in Industrial Video rentals and TV commercial production. Meanwhile I was also flight Instructing. Almost went in to commercial aviation and did some Air Charter work part time, but Air Image Tech had by then already "taken off". Finally decided to retire in 1995. However by 1996, I was bored out of my mind ! (Never figured on the boredom "thing", so something else that didn't go EXACTLY as planned....). So decided to fulfill a little known childhood dream. Driving 18 wheelers across country ! (who'd a thunk ???) So went and obtained my Class A CDL with tanker, Hazmat and doubles endorsements. I began by going to work for CR England out of Salt Lake City, UT. Thru a strange twist of fate, I discovered RiverDance by pulling one of their trailers to LA. Fell in love with Irish Step Dancing and took lessons for 3 years right after leaving CR England. I finally decided to REALLY retire and moved to Waldoboro, ME in 2000. Instead of retiring I missed the lure of the open road (guess I'm not cut out for retirement)... I "pulled" for Bisson Transportation in Bath, ME until 2003 when I decided to leave trucking to start so...Expand for more
mething new.. That something new, was Video Interchange specializing in the recovery and transfer of obsolete, vintage or damaged media. Always a "sucker" for hard luck cases, today, I also run a mini cat shelter ! The company (Video Interchange) is little more than a "front" and funding source for the real operation..... (at least it feels that way at times !) I suppose I'll always be self employed - if for no other reason that no prospective employer would ever believe the resume ! - - - - - - - School SCHOOL YEARS GRADES Fiske Elementary 1953 - 1955 1-2 (First Grade Teacher: Miss Meriam Bartkus) (2nd Grade Teacher: Mrs Hazel Hoyt) Maria Hastings Elementary 1956 - 1959 3-6 Wm Diamond Jr High 1960 - 1961 7-8 Lexington High 1962 - 1965 9-12 Most Memorable & influential Teachers: Miss Bartkus - 1st Grade Fiske School - Lexington MA Mrs Hoyt - 2nd Grade - Fiske School - Lexington, MA Mr John DuFour - High School Electronics Instructor Sadly Mt Dufour passed away Dec 20, 2007 Mr Lawrence Fine - Calculus Teacher - Wentworth (The only calculus teacher I ever knew that actually understood the subject he was teaching !)
